Katerva is a charity organization registered out of the United Kingdom which delivers the Katerva Awards—the pinnacle of global sustainability recognition. Through its website, visitors can read various news and opinions about all things at the intersection of sustainability and innovation and learn about the ideas and programs nominated for the Katerva Awards.

The name Katerva (Ca-tair-vah) comes from the Latin word Caterva—meaning “crowd.” We hope to utilize the the global community to find, refine, and broadcast solutions to the world’s greatest problems.

It is our goal to locate, award, and assist those ideas by which we will live sustainably with the planet inside the next 40 years. We are looking for true game changers–the kind that immeasurably shift the way business, consumption, lifestyle, and efficiency work at a global level.

Radical innovation, global cooperation, and absolute optimism
make up the cornerstones of Katerva.

Katerva operates based on the following principles.

Those ideas by which we will live sustainably with the planet over the next century should be cultivated, refined, and replicated quickly. Katerva hopes to offer visibility, intelligence, financial support, and general assistance to the very best sustainability-related ideas and programs.

Change measured in single- and double-digit percentiles will not fix the planet’s most wicked problems. Katerva is looking for game-changing ideas—the kind that immeasurably shift the way business, consumption, lifestyle, and efficiency work at a global level.

The wisdom and passion of crowds, when properly amplified and organized, can make necessary global change happen very quickly.
